Many of you know that recently CHUM went to a local format in an effort to cut costs and promote it's sale to Bell Globalmedia. In Edmonton 47 jobs were lost, including Corey's weekend gig of watching movies, going for long lunches and occasionally doing news audio etc. Corey had been working at Access, then went to A-Channel then CityTV for over ten years total.
Letter form our Operations Manager Corey:
"I have no regrets that I stayed with Access when A-Channel came along, and loved the changeover from A-Channel to CityTV. I think that in the long run (over two years) the purchase of CityTV by a larger more focused company will do a lot for this city and professionals who work in our industry. Plummeting ratings is probably what caused CityTV to re-tool their stations- Everyone who worked here knew that we couldn't compete globally, and were all desperate to get more local stuff but the resources just weren't there.
Now
I have camera training from Edmonton's best shooters, CCU training from one of Canada's best CCU guys, Audio training from one of the people I respect most as a great audio guy and family man, and management training from some fantastic management.
All in all, my life won't change very much by the loss of CityTV, but I will miss working with an incredible group of people who were a family to me. Don't be surprised to see me hanging out at Chianti's or even .. uggggh.. Done's quietly having tea, (and hot rolls or bucket-o-rice), wondering how everyone else is doing.
Thank you to A-Channel management, CityTV management, Access management and the admin support staff who made my job fun and fulfilling. And a big thanks for the generous severance check which I invested into shares of Globalmedia and expect to triple my money this week."

Congrats to studio singers/personnel who have been chosen to represent
at this years CDN idol. We look forward to the TO merch you will
be bringing back for us :) I think Tim would love a CTV jacket,
he's been quietly coveting Corey's CityTv one- which is a superior
quality coat.

We have been working to finish the control desk, and it's been pointed
out that many of our new artists haven't been put on the site. So...
we'll get to that right away.

It has been a long time coming, but after replacing the soundcraft's
power supply(the original was fantastic) with the cheap-ass replacement
part Soundcraft sent out (for 1000 bucks). the new power supply
has finally died and it is with great sadness that we decided to
retire the console. In fact, we will never purchase a product from
soundcraft again. The support and engineering just isn't there anymore.
So, to solve the problem of a studio without a console, we turned
to a manufacturer who's equipment is not only state of the art,
but is over designed and over engineered. We went back to Mackie
as our interface of choice. The studio has a MCU and and 2 Extensions
which give the engineer total control over Cubase and Protools.
The implementation is fantastic. Sessions are more fun and move
faster. We also added 24 digital mic preamps, and a whole new headphone
monitoring system. And since we had the whole control room apart
anyway, we re-engineered the desk, and the gear islands, and turned
the studio to face a dead wall (allowing the engineer to watch the
drummer or vocalist at the same time). The only thing left to finish
in the control room is the ceiling, for which we have the panels-
just need to be painted, installed, and sonically tested.

We have added video production facilities to our studio. We purchased
a Canon XL2 Digital film camera, lights and other stuff to enable
us to do video shoots for a fraction of the cost clients would normally
pay.
Corey and Tim's years of experience and contacts in the Canadian
broadcast industry allows us to connect to shooters, directors and
writers of all genres.
As well, we are going to be launching an artist management division
very soon.
Check back at www.theimagemanagement.com for updates and details.

Upgraded the nearfields to 8".
Bought a new Nikon d-70 for our web/graphics dept.
12.22.04
Nothing really much to say. A few of our artists have label interest
but we won't name names yet.
We have also started doing some budget planning to incorporate either
an Icon controller with Protools, or the Euphonix controller with
the newest version of nuendo. If all goes well with the signing deals
we will be building an Owensound Studios Nashville and starting work
on project studio franchises throughout Canada. Although those will
be using SX and ID controllers.
11.21.04
We added a Saitek computer keyboard to allow control of the DAW transports.
Very slick piece, as well we redesigned the control desk to allow
for a keyboard drawer under the flat panels. Now everything slides
out of the way. We should patent this design... We keep saying that
but never do it lol.
We'll stick a picture of the new layout in here soon.
11.17.04
I guess there isn't going to be a particular weekly or monthly date
to these entries, but anyway at least we have some.
Project status:
Living Illusion- I've been listening to the vocals we have
been cutting for these guys and I think everyone will agree -WALLOFSOUND-.
coupled with heavy warm guitar tones, fantastic drumming and clever
bass line we think this offering form the Victoria boys will help
redefine the college pop-rock sound.
We are finishing up vocals and are going to be into mixing in early
December.
Forcor- name change pending, these young guys from Sherwood
Park AB will be on the radio late January after completion of their
first video.
We are tracking bass and vocals and the enhanced CD work-to include
interviews and band fansite info is still pending.
Jenae- This project is taking the longest as it is going to
be the flagship project for our studio. World class musicians and
producers from all over Canada and the States are working with Jenae
to ensure that she is released with at least five commercial singles.
We are sparing no expense or time in the completion of her music.
11.11.04
The site went live. After a year or more of intermittent updates
and stale graphics etc. we redesigned the site to make it a lot
easier to download software updates and to add news, (this iframe).
Hopefully we can keep free time up to keep the site updated, but
currently our studio load is crazy insane and our facility is working
around the clock on most days.
11.07.04
completed patchname scripts for our Keyboards Kurzwiel K2500, Triton,
and Triton LE. You can download the patches from our downloads page.
10.04.04
Added a Yamaha Electronic kit, with a Roland snare pad (it feels and
